The Team Coaching Process

In-person sessions often foster the strongest connection, but they're not always practical. Many teams now choose a mix of face-to-face and virtual coaching, using video calls to stay flexible and connected across locations.
 

Remote coaching still offers deep, impactful support, wherever your team is based.
 

Once we’ve agreed the scope of the project with the team leader, a typical team coaching process might include:

Go Team

1.

The coach meets each team member individually to understand their views about the team, their priorities and the context of their work.

2.

A project launch workshop brings the whole team together to discuss what the team wants to achieve and how best to work together.  This often involves discussion facilitated by the coach on what the team's role is - or should be - and what might need to change for them to raise their game. 

3. 

Research is carried out by the team with the support of their coach to find out more about their stakeholders views and what might impact the team's success - changing customer needs, new technologies, shifts in the competitor landscape etc. 

4. 

The team meet in a workshop to discuss their findings from the research and agree their top development priorities. This might include creating a new strategy, redefining their goals, improving stakeholder relationships and improving the ways the team works together. 

5.

A series of workshops and other events over a period of several months take place - during which the team are coached to explore their current situation, identify the best way forward and take action. Ideally they work on this agenda between sessions with their coach too. 

6.

Coaching for the team leader and potentially other members of the team can help them in re-imagining their role in delivering the team purpose and leadership style.

7.

At the end of the programme the team meet to consolidate their learning, consider how the project has met its objectives, and agree what the team should focus on next
